Award Ceremony
Product Design of the Year
In December 2021, architect and designer Felix Schwake was awarded the “Grand Prix – Product Design of the Year” at the Paris Design Awards in Paris. The awarded project was the “FELIX SCHWAKE DESK MMXX-I”.
The work emerged from an engagement with reduction, materiality, and the question of how working environments must be designed in order to enable concentration and clarity. The desk is not understood as a decorative object, but as a spatial framework for thinking, drawing, and decision-making.
The design follows a deliberately restrained formal order. Proportion, material, and precision of joinery take center stage. Functional elements are integrated without disturbing the calmness of the overall object. The design continues an attitude that defines architecture and design not through visual effect, but through durability, consistency, and a conscious reduction to essentials.
The award in Paris also reflects the international relevance of a design approach that does not separate architecture, interior design, and functional art. At its core is the question of how objects and spaces influence perception and what responsibility design carries in relation to long-term use.
The award ceremony took place on 03.12.2021 in Paris.
